Goldwork & Leather Bee on Organic Cotton

£400.00
Bees are the ultimate embodiment of spring yet their beauty is one that stays with us all year round.

Bring nature into your home with my hand embroidered Goldwork Bee!

To create this piece, I began by drawing a template for the thorax and abdomen of the bee. The template was then used to create the padding which sits directly underneath the Goldwork wires. Padding creates a three dimensional effect and allows the bee to pop out of the fabric. I then covered the padding using several individually cut black and gold metal wires. To cover the thorax, I used a luxurious, crinkled gold leather. The leather not only creates a beautiful texture, but catches the light perfectly.

The head of the bee has been created with black cotton and an antique gold cord which I have also outlined the abdomen with. For the wings, I have used cotton and Indian silk threads along with an antique gold wire to outline the shape. This wire contrasts beautifully against the muted beige tones in the fabric and compliments the metals I have used for the body of the bee.

To finish off, I added two antique gold beads for the eyes, silk cords for the hind legs and foreleg and antique gold twisted cord for the middle leg.

The bee has been set in a 7” wood effect hoop ready to hang or display. It creates an entrancing focal point for a bookshelf, desk, or even a plain wall. Makes a perfect gift for bee and flower lovers

Lovingly packaged with brown paper, twine, a wax seal and dried flowers 🖤

Please note that this Bee is made to order and I will require 10-15 working days before posting your embroidery
